Los Angeles Coffee Festival
Brand Identity + Print + Illustration
Los Angeles Coffee Festival is LA’s flagship coffee event that holds international roasters and celebrates Los Angeles’ vibrant coffee scene.
Focusing on coffee lovers, I created a hypothetical rebrand identity system to frame the immersive culture, coffee aficionado, and joyous messages represented within.
The Bean
Coffee lovers put coffee beans on a pedestal. It is the start of the roast. The logo emulates a coffee bean being extracted to start the bean-to-cup process.
Bean People
A coffee connoisseur knows everything about the drink: the different roasts, different types of beans (and where they come from), the various flavor profiles, the different ways to brew a cup, and all the specialty coffee drinks. All the knowledge a coffee connoisseur has inspired this handmade illustration that takes the “Bean People” literally. Their heads are coffee beans, and their body is fluid like coffee extract. The Bean People energize and highlight different posters during and for the festival.

Inspired by the flow of pouring milk into a cup of coffee, I coded this generative type p5.js to be utilized in a coffee shop and will display a name to help enforce that the coffee is ready to be picked up. The video below demonstrates the generative type made.
The hypothetical Los Angeles Coffee Festival has taught me how to incorporate illustration within graphic design to create solid and captivating messages.
